In-Person Pilax Pilates for Beginners

Afraid of Pilates? A self-confessed lazy exerciser? Feeling weak? Don't like machines? Just restarting class and not ready to step into a regular group class? These classes are for you! I promise. CURRENT CLASSES
Newcastle:
Toasty Thursdays

Type: Complete Beginner-> Beginner casual class 40 min class

Date and Time: August 6- September 24, 6:10pm- 6:50pm

Location: The Place, Charlestown


Cost: FREE COMMUNITY CLASS


How to Register:
No need, just show up

What to wear:

Easy to move in but warm clothing (unless you get too hot easily)
We're working in a big hall space so it may get cold.

What to bring:

  • A mat if you have one (I can provide very thin mats),

  • a blankie or wrap to keep warm in these colder months if you need,

  • a small cushion or pillow 

  • any other support you may need.

I provide hard balls and therabands.

IF you've previously done Pilates and are restarting,
feel free to bring your own weights to add in as you see fit.

 What to expect:

  • Basic core work,

  • Meditative music

  • Breathing and relaxation techniques,

  • Flow style-> learning how to smoothly transition between exercises,

  • Correct alignment advice,

  • Repetitions each week with one or two new additions,

  • No long holding of exercises,

  • No long fancy anatomy,

  • Plenty of time to rest between exercises,

  • A few minutes to talk after class.

 MEDICAL NOTES / IMPORTANT:

While I have first aid and insurance, if you have:

 osteoporosis,
a slipped disc or

major neck injury,
you will need to sign a waiver.

While these classes are gentle,  they are not designed for people

at these stages of life and the class is a general group class.


If you are currently pregnant, you are welcome to attend if
you have done Pilates before. If you have not
done any exercise in the past, please call me to discuss your atttendance.

If you have CFS/long covid but no other serious medical conditions,

this class should be fine for you.

I have mild long covid myself and use these classes to manage my condition.

Yours may be different but you will be in a safe space.

Please bring with you anything you require to stay safe.

If you require a chair, please let me know a few days prior,

so I can arrange this for you

If you are unsure about an injury/ previous injury,

please contact me via the flyer number to discuss.

Failure to declare a medical condition of any kind that

may affect your safety in attending class,

will be seen as a serious breach of trust and you will be barred from attending.
