It’s that time of year again for us in the Southern Hemisphere. Time for doctors’ visits and baths or if you don’t have a bath, a foot bath.
This will be a short one. See picture.
Think you can’t afford luxury? Think again.
Bucket: $5-20

Magnesium from Coles: $6

Organic Herbal essence: $10- $25
Yes, this parts a bit pricey but they tend to last long. Pick 1-4 of your favourite. If you’re able to afford only 2, my advice is to choose one that's great for colds like rosemary or eucalyptus and one that’s relaxing or invigorating. In fact, if you get Eucalyptus from Chemist Warehouse, you can get a big bottle for $17- sometimes I see them on sale for $11- then you can get 2 others. One invigorating, one relaxing. If you really cant afford essences- check your neighbour’s garden. Often rosemary is growing around and you can take some. Lemon essence or orange? Try the direct skin peel off the fruit.
My favourite combo is:
Magnesium – using topically, it can help reduce muscle cramps, give a better sleep and may improve help with anxiety. Be careful not to put too much of this into a footbath or a bath as from my own experience, it can have a powerful laxative effect.
Pineapple pieces- the bromelain in pineapple helps reduce inflammation. Be careful as some people will react to this on the skin. For me, one day I simply decided I had to add some of the ends of our cut up pineapple into the foot bath and it reduced my headache. That’s when I discovered, my craving was on point. But this wont work for everyone. Find what works for you.

Rosemary – ancients Greeks believe it improves brain function, it is shown to reduce stress and stimulates hair growth

Frankincense – an oil used for centuries across many cultures, frankincense also has anti-inflammatory properties, pain relief and is believed to benefit skin and have anti-cancer properties (this hasn’t been proven).

If you react to any essences: Run that part of you under cold water and leave it for a while. Then take an antihistamine and either try Aloe vera or any cream you’d use on mosquito bites and if that makes it worse, just run under cold water and try air again. That’s what works for me anyway.
